Most owners don't realize their website is a problem because the problem is invisible. Nobody emails to say 'I left your site because it was slow.' They just leave. Here are five signs it's happening to you.
1. It takes more than a few seconds to load
People decide whether to stay in about three seconds. If your site is still loading, a chunk of them are already gone, back to Google, on to the next result. Speed isn't a nice-to-have, it's the difference between a visitor and a customer.
2. It's hard to use on a phone
Most of your visitors are on a phone. If they have to pinch and zoom, or the buttons are too small to tap, you're making them work to give you money. Most won't bother.
3. Your phone number is hard to find
If a ready-to-buy customer has to hunt for how to reach you, you've added friction at the worst possible moment. Your phone number or booking button should be obvious on every page.
4. It looks dated
Fair or not, people judge your business by your website. A site that looks ten years old makes them wonder what else is out of date. First impressions happen in seconds and they're hard to undo.
5. Nothing happens after someone contacts you
If a form submission sits in an inbox for two days, that lead is cold. Fast follow-up wins jobs. Slow follow-up hands them to whoever called the customer back first.
If two or more of these sound like your site, it's worth a look. Reach out and I'll tell you straight what's costing you and what's worth fixing.
